01Conditions for registration

All films for the contest during Handle Climate Change Film Festival 2023 (short for HCCFF) must meet the following conditions:

    All entries for the HCCFF contest must be original works produced independently by the entrant or team, and subject to approval for the contest by original producer or team.

    All entries for the HCCFF contest must contain no content of pornography, violence or racial discrimination, and be consistent with national laws and regulations and customs of various ethnic groups. This article is subject to the interpretation by the HCCFF evaluation team.

    The entrants must have the copyright on their submitted films, and guarantee that the music, video images, creative texts and other elements contained in the works are copyrighted or their submission is approved by copyright owner. Plagiarizing and copying are prohibited, and subject to definition by the Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China and relevant regulations. The entrant shall be held accountable for any consequence and legal liability arising from disputes or controversies concerning copyright.

    The works for the HCCFF contest are not restricted by genre, theme, form and region, with a strong preference for films completed after November 2021 and never been submitted to HCCFF before . Global documentary production agencies, broadcast media, documentary producers are encouraged to submit for the contest which are consistent with the topics of climate change, environmental protection, science & technology exploration and social documentary or the public service announcements on environmental protection.

    Requirements for film length: long film (more than 20 min); short film (20 min or less); serial film (program) refers to the film composed of several episodes, with content consistent and connected on the whole, but independent of each other.

    Non-Chinese language film submissions can include embedded Chinese or English subtitles in accordance with actual situation. Those films that are not in Chinese, English  must be subtitled in English.  The full copy of the text subtitled should be sent to the Organizing Committee.

    The entrants are not required to pay for registration and later evaluation of their films, but have to bear the postage for delivery of their works.

    All entrants must comply with all rules specified by the HCCFF’s organizing committee, and provide assistance in arrangement of the HCCFF activities.

Film quantity:
each director, producer or organization can submit one or several films.

    DVD video output format for finished film (including trailer): PAL. Video format: MP4、MOV

    Deadline for registration: from now until August 30, 2023 (the date on DVD delivery postmark shall prevail).

Ⅲ Use of film’s information and elements

1. For publicity and promotion of the 2018 HCCFF, the committee has the right to use the registration information, stills and trailer of entries for the contest on prints, advertising video, television, Internet, mobile TV and in cinema and public places.

2. The HCCFF’ organizing committee is entitled to use continuous images of each film for not more than 3 min for publicity and promotion in cinema and on television, video network and other media.

3. The HCCFF’s organizing committee has the right to copy films for the contest only for the purpose of document retention, instead of for commercial use.

Ⅳ Related rights and interests

1. The HCCFF’s organizing committee has the right of one-year non-commercial show of all finalist films selected in re-evaluation or award-winning works.

2. The HCCFF’s organizing committee has the right of non-exclusive copyright agency of the films for the contest;

3. The HCCFF’s organizing committee must obtain approval of the copyright owner for commercial show, in which case the latter has the right to share revenue and claim authorship;

Ⅴ Other Issues

1.The HCCFF’s organizing committee does not bear postage and insurance costs for films and materials for the contest, and shall not be held liable for any loss and damage of the films and works during their delivery and any loss, mistake or damage of registration information due to other force majeure factors. All DVDs and related materials of the films for the contest will not be returned, so the entrants should keep the copy of their works available.

2.The entrants of the HCCFF contest are deemed as accepting the above mentioned articles and rules. Chinese judiciary has independent jurisdiction over any disputes concerning the agreement.

3.The power of interpretation of the festival is vested in the organizing committee of Handle Climate Change Film Festival 2023.
