2017 Handle Climate Change Film Festival Was Successfully Held In Shenzhen

2017 Handle Climate Change Film Festival was held in Shenzhen on September 23th-24th. With the theme of "Climate Change and Green Communication", HCCFF has four sections of Green Film Evaluation, Experts Forum, Popular Science Lecture and Screening Activities. HCCFF is dedicated to bring together excellent films about climate change and environmental protection and present them in an international framework to Chinese audiences, and encourage Chinese filmmakers to participate in the production of green films, and show the green story of China to the world.


HCCFF2017 has received strong support from experts and scholars in the fields of climate change, film production and communication. Special attention was gained from the United Nations. Mr. Liu zhenmin, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, sent a video message to congratulate. Mr. Sha zukang, the former Under-Secretary-General, attended and made a keynote speech.


During the 2017 Bonn Climate Change Conference, the representatives of the organizing committee introduced the of HCCFF2017 in China Pavilion, The Paths of Green, ABC of Low-Carbon Agriculture, HCCFF Cute Earth and other outstanding awarded works are screened.


Professional and Authoritative Green Film Activities, Balance Science and Art

This session, we have received 1698 films from 102 countries and districts. After first preliminary and review, 41 works of the final professional group entered the final competition and competed for six awards.


The international juries is composed of nine experts from the field of film and television and cliamte change. There are the former director of SARFT Film Bureau Liu Jianzhong, the former director of National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation Li Junfeng, deputy director of Center for Environmental Education and Communications of Ministry of Environmental Protection Yan Shidong and other experts from Hongkong, Taiwan, Japan and Russia. The Organizing Committee provided the prize for the outstanding works, and encourage more and more filmmakers to participate in the production of green films, become the green communicator. We also hope that HCCFF can become an Oscar in the industry in the future.


Public Screening Combine With Climate Science, Spread Knowledge of Climate Change in Diverse Way

The Organizing Committee use diverse way to spread knowledge of climate change with public screening and popular science lectures. In this session, the organizing committee set Green Film Screening activities. There are 18 excellent films were screened and 350 screening events were carried out on public welfare science venues. This year the organizing committee added popular science lectures with the theme of “How to tackle Climate Change”, six experts from the fields of space, meteorological, geographic, explained Chinese scientists and scholars in different fields have work hard to tackle climate change.


Innovative Content of HCCFF2017

 Green Film Initiative

HCCFF’s organizing committee has put forward the concept of Green Film in the first edition, and deepened the meaning in the 2017. By gathering the wisdom from experts in related fields, the No.1 Green Film Initiative in China has been created with 8 specific principles. It aims to enhance the awareness of green and low carbon with film practitioners, reduce the carbon footprint in film production and promote the protection of natural resources. Meanwhile, encourage the film makers to pay attention to environmental issues. We will work with the government departments, TV stations and film production companies to conduct the green film initiative and make it into a national standard.


Green Youth and Green Teens

The Organizing Committee encourages young people to learn about climate change through film and television and express their views and thoughts. On the basis of the first session of the professional group, the Green Youth for the universities and the Green Teens for middle schools students were carried out. For this reason, the organizing committee invites experts from th fields of climate change and the film and television trained teachers from Shenzhen 10 secondary school, and then the schools teachers guide students short movie how to shoot short film with the theme of "Climate Change". In the end, 7 works of Green Teens were screened on the China Pavilion of UN Bonn Climate Change Conference. In the future, the Green Teen will take Shenzhen as the starting point and national promotion, eventually to the whole world.


New Media Technology 

2017 As the sponsor and organizer, We hope that by constantly exploring, HCCFF will attract more people to focus on green film, to understand climate change, and to join low-carbon and environmental activities. For example, we use instant photography sharing and live streaming on site, the live stream of HCCFF was watched over 100,000 people. These technological applications promotes autonomous communications of participants, and improves our communication effect. There are nearly 200,000 people involved this edition directly and the search was close to 400,000.The Organizing Comittee got CCTV-1, CCTV-13, the People's Daily, China news, Xinhua News, Japan's Asahi Shimbun, the Urban Commercial Daily, Canada's National Post at home and abroad, more than 450 mainstream medias’ attention and coverage, reached over 100 million people.
